Biomedical Ultrasound Lab (BMU)

The laboratory’s main research areas include the spine, cervical spine, carotid artery, spinal ultrasound endoscopy, and ultrasound navigation. In ultrasound navigation, the primary focus is on developing intelligent 3D medical ultrasound imaging and portable ultrasound imaging systems. For spine, cervical spine, and carotid artery research, we combine ultrasound navigation with deep learning to analyze medical ultrasound images, mainly for diagnosing conditions like scoliosis and carotid artery plaques. The research on ultrasound endoscopy focuses on biomedical ultrasound image and signal processing, multimodal ultrasound imaging, and the physical properties of the musculoskeletal system. These studies are applied to ultrasound endoscopy in minimally invasive spinal surgery, early diagnosis of gastric infiltrative cancer, and musculoskeletal analysis in rehabilitation. Our laboratory is currently collaborating with leading hospitals, including Beijing 301 Hospital, Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital, and Shanghai Tongren Hospital.
