Smart Ultrasound Imaging and Therapy Lab (SUIT)

The Smart Ultrasound Imaging and Therapy Lab (SUIT) is dedicated to developing novel ultrasound imaging instruments and methods tailored to the needs of ultrasound therapy. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art medical ultrasound research facilities, including a 1024-channel volumetric ultrasound research platform, a 256-channel high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) research platform, various kinds of medical imaging and ultrasound therapeutic probes, a 3D acoustic field scanning system, etc, as well as the capability to design customized ultrasound probes.
The main research areas of SUIT lab include image-guided and monitored ultrasound therapy, novel ultrasound imaging methods, and the application of deep learning in ultrasound imaging. Our work is supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Shanghai, the State Key Laboratory of Medical Imaging Science and Technology (CAS), and the Shanghai Sailing Program. Our research findings have been published in leading international journals and conferences in the fields of ultrasound and medical imaging, including Science Advances, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging (TMI), IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control (TUFFC), Ultrasonics, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (JASA), and IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS).
Over the past three years, our team members have received seven international and domestic awards, including the ISTU Student Award Finalist, the IEEE IUS International Travel Award, the National Scholarship for Doctorates, and the AI4S Cup Best Inversion Performance Award for Acoustic Field Prediction in Ultrasound CT Imaging. Master degree alumni of our lab have secured positions at leading domestic companies such as Huawei, Tencent, and United Imaging, or have been awarded PhD fellowship for pursuing doctoral degree in the United States.
We welcome students who are interested in signal processing, image processing, medical imaging, wave physics, artificial intelligence, parallel computing, electronic circuit design, and instrumentation to join us. If interested, please file an email to caixr@shanghaitech.edu.cn.
